How do I know that my testosterone level is converted into DHT
Extract from my free eBook, email if you would like a copy, info@absolique.com.au DHT is also a precursor to other enzyme reactions in the body. It is not a hormone on its own. DHT is produced by a conversion in the body, here is a simple chemistry equation; 2% of testosterone converts by 5-alpha reductase to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is not the baddie here. DHT gets triggered to bind to receptors it is not supposed to bind to. You could liken it to a free radical effect. DHT can be triggered to bind where it is not intended by; hereditary factors, hormonal factors, environmental influences and the free radical effect. These days, we all have some triggers because of our environmental exposure, many of us have a few from the trigger list. Working out your triggers is the key and you can then put methods in place to protect and prevent.
I suffer from seasonal hair loss during the summer. I reside in the Arizona desert!
Try a scalp cleanser and revitalizer at the beginning of the season and through the season, see if that helps. Use minimum every second day. Aveda Invati has good ones.

Australian measurement is nmol/L 150 is minimum with 300 max
So antioxidants alone can protect the hair follicle from the effects of DHT? Interesting.
I would always use combination therapy, topical and oral, also check you are making antioxidants and absorbing.

We would only use minoxidil on wash day, so we can prep scalp and use a safer product. Best used with professional advice.

Post surgery hair loss is either diffuse or patches as in alopecia. Frontal hair thinning is different again. Change of season should not cause hair loss, but if there are autoimmune or nutritional seasonal changes, could contribute. There sounds like a few things going on here, you should visit a Trichologist.
How do you feel about the pronged dispensers for minoxidil solution?
I am not a fan of minoxidil unless it is essential. There are so many other options these days. Can you send picture or link for pronged dispensers?

Low ferritin hair loss is normally telogen effluvium, diffuse hair loss. AGA is pattern hair thinning, not hair loss. They are different but can be present at the same time. The most important thing is to raise the ferritin and work on the hair cycle. You can email me for help info@absolique.com.au

What shampoo or conditioner is good. ?
When we are dealing with hair loss and hair regrowth, we need to separate hair and scalp. Here we used Absolique scalp cleanser, the shampoo and conditioner were chosen for the hair type, fine hair, wavy/frizzy tendencies, not colored or treated, we wanted volume, not heavy weight. We are loving Aveda for prescriptive shampoo and conditioner choices. Here we used Aveda Nutriplenish light. You can contact your local Aveda hairdresser for the right hair shampoo and conditioner for you. Tip, don't keep using the same hair shampoo and conditioner, hair needs change, every time you run out, get a new prescription! Most hairdressers offer this service.
Here we were using scalp products to help with hair growth. For safe and effective hair shampoo and conditioner, I like Aveda, they have an amazing range where we can prescribe the right hair products for your hair.

You're probably the closest on the ball to all this, it's a multiplier of factors not just DHT, something to do with androgen receptors, gene expression and cellular responses, including inflammation and oxidation as culprits. But do you have sources that can back this stuff up? How can we prove that it's a hormone regulation, anti-inflammation and anti-oxidant thing as opposed to just "lowering" DHT?
The research, studies and evidence are accumulating. Nutrition and environment do contribute. This is an old video, much more proof is online now. One of my resources for studies is the International Association of Trichologists, they release quarterly updates.

Thanks for the information. Going through the hair loss process now, had the blood tests last week plus hair samples taken to view under a microscope. Had done so much research on my specific surgery before having it (cancer, so full hysterectomy done but did not need chemo as all cleared out) but did not know about the possible hair loss issue. Long hospital stay after as got Sepsis infection and had to have more major surgery again to clean that up too. Here is the ironic thing... I'm a senior and have had to pluck chin/facial mutant hairs every day for many years and that has not changed, yet got crazy thinning all over my scalp after I got home in January. I have about 1/4 scalp hair volume left (and now wispy texture of each strand) of what I had in October. Not fair LOL ... would gladly trade not getting facial hair to have to pluck about 50-100 chin, cheek, neck hairs every day.

When in deficiency or insufficiency, yes. Iron stores are essential for immune support. When low, the body will choose the essential functions first. Hair. skin and nails are non-essential, and will miss out.

Can the hair still grow back if you get your ferritin above 70 depsite early onset of mpb. I have low ferritin (25) i dont wanna take finsteride or mindoxil
You would need to check hair follicle status with a microscope to be sure. If early onset hopefully the follicle is still open and alive, then can be treated without common medications. Most hair clinics have a microscope to check for you or you can buy your own.
If the hair on top of my head is still normal thickness but it's falling out in clumps exposing my scalp, if i get my ferritin up will I be able to grow some hair back on top of my head without midnoxil or finsterdie
You need to check follicle status with a microscope. Diffuse hair loss and diffuse hair thinning are different from male pattern hair thinning. Hard to treat mpht with low ferritin. Better chances with balanced health to treat naturally. Many options available these days.

Scalp dry brushing before scalp cleansing is for exfoliation, circulation, stimulation, must be followed by scalp cleanser. Much more effective than massage and prepares the scalp for natural hair loss treatments. I would not be using essential oil in this situation and be careful your minoxidil is PG free. I have sparse crown and hairfall from roots with a lot of gunk at the root when they fall. Should I take my Iron supplement with thyroid medication in the morninAg, or will it limit absorption? My ferritin is 4.8, hemoglobin is 8 & I'm prescribed Socril in the morning with 125mg Thyronorm, Polybion in the morning, B-Active in the afternoon after meals. Please do respond doctor!
Iron supplements should be taken as directed, some need to go with food and some on an empty tummy. Nothing should be taken with medication. My hair thickness was very lower as compared to previous year due to hair smoothing.
